Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM), functioning under the Rural Development & Administration Department, Government of Mizoram, and the Government of India, is mandated to reduce rural poverty by enabling sustainable livelihood opportunities for the rural poor, particularly women. MzSRLM aims to build strong, self-reliant, and inclusive community institutions that enhance the socio-economic well-being of rural households. Its mission focuses on mobilizing rural poor into SHGs and federations, strengthening their capacities through continuous training and handholding, promoting financial inclusion, and facilitating access to diverse livelihood opportunities across farm and non-farm sectors.

Over the years, Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) has made progress in community mobilization, institution building, and livelihood promotion across Mizoram. At present, 10,183 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed, along with 758 Village Organizations (VOs) and 84 Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) covering 721 villages, with a strong focus on women-led development and participatory governance.

The mission has helped SHG members access bank loans, supported skill development, and promoted small enterprises. It has also taken up various income-generating activities such as food processing, handicrafts, agri-allied activities, and other non-farm livelihoods.

In addition, MzSRLM has worked on value addition, branding, and market linkages, including the launch of SELHEL, to improve the visibility and sale of SHG products. These efforts are helping in increasing income and supporting rural economic development.
